NJ Officer Shot Stopping Robbery in Bahamas

NEW YORK – A Bergenfield police officer is in stable condition after he was shot at point-blank range trying to break up a robbery in the Bahamas.

A colleague tells WNBC-TV in New York John Casper was on vacation and walking with three friends in Nassau when they saw a robbery in progress.

The friend says the 49-year-old confronted the suspect and a second suspect shot Casper in the chest Wednesday night.

There’s no word on any arrests.

    Typical of what you would expect from a New York or New Jersey Officer. They have a reputation to up hold and will die if necessary in order to accomplish that mission. Blue to the bone. May God be with the Officer and his family at this time of need.
