I hate the crown vics for city police work. They are to big!
I would have to say that the Crown Vic isn't all that bad. I'm not really a fan of Ford, however, I put my P.C. through it's paces and pushed it quite hard without a let down.
Atleast this one has nice wheels instead of the plastic covers on the 07 and 08. Ride is nice with roomy interior compared to the Impala. But Ford is falling behind on power. Needs more oommmpphh.
as a security company we use the old police cars and they work greast for us. now there using the new 07 Dodge charger for Fresno & Clovis Police and Fresno Even Bought the Dodge Magnum for police work.
I have had a 2005 CV for the last 2 years. I have put almost 50,000 miles on it so far and it is a dependable car. The transmission did go out at 42,000 and I am on my third set of brakes. It is not as fast as the Dodge Charger, but it is a good vehicle for city cops. My only complaint about the speed is that it is governed at about 132, but I rarely need to go that fast.
This car comes wired for emergency equipment and ready to roll. Lots of room and runs great. This is all out department uses at the present time.
Great car, smooth, fast acceleration, roomie and comfortable. Handles well and brakes are more than adequate.
We have several of these in our fleet. They are reliable and bulit solid. We are supposed to get a few 2007 or 2008's soon. Looking forward to them.
Considering that the 2007 models are in, I would rather go with one of them. LOL
This car really get's up and goes when you need it to.
Drove an unmarked 05 Vic for my last two years on the job, love my Vic. Roomy, comfortable, with lots of get up and go when you need it.
Used Crown Victs my whole career. Thanks to a good maint. div., the Ford has lasted. Power has dwindled off on the newer models but still pretty stable.
I used this vehicle while I was at Ft. Bragg. Really enjoyed it, great get up and go speed. The only problem I had with it was when i had to make a quick turn around, usually had to do a 3 point turn around in this vehicle. Other than that it's an awesome car.
I have found that the Crown Vic isn't the best in urban areas, but great for rural or county policing. They have the weight to stay on dirt roads better than the Impala, and can take the bumps better. In the city they are just too large for te streets and trying to turn one around can be a waste of time.
i drive this vehicle on my patrols. very reliable, great horespower. overall great car.
You can't find a bigger P.O.S. for police work. Sure they can be fast. but what else is good about them? They are huge cars, yet somehow there is no room for anything inside. Unless your department spends a lot on upgrades, it is a lousy fit for cops with gear. It's like driving a Lazyboy recliner. These cars were not designed for cops, they are designed for old people to cruise around in. Hopefully CARBON MOTORS will make headway with the first vehicles designed from the ground up for law enforcement.
I have an '03 Crown Vic and it has 120,000 miles and it is dependable in every aspect of the job that i use it in. Never do i have to be worried that my patrolcar will let me down when i need it the most. I never was a big fan of FORD products but i do love my car.
Started my career driving one. Wish the AF would go back to utilizing them. The most comfortable and more power then the luminas and impalas in my opinion.
THE CROWN VICK BABY ALL THE WAY!! POWER AND U HAVE ROOM FOR ALL YOUR STUFF 2!
I love the Crown Vic. We have bough several Chargers, and I would take a vic over any of them, any day of the week. There is plenty of room for all of the gadgets that I have, as well as plenty of trunk space for all of my crash investigation equipment.
I used to drive a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and I have to say that this is a BIG upgrade, it works really well in the county and we can get to where we need to go at a good speed, but it is big enough to get seen. The only thing I miss is my 4 wheel drive on the snow!
Good solid car and nothing compares when the 4.6L is wound up!
i love this car yeah the chargers are faster but this car is my tank it will hold up to anything tested and tried
I know everyone likes the look of the chargers and the spped. But Im 6'6 and i dont fit in them to well. Thats why I prefer the vic's that any other.
Best bang for the buck! Fast, reliable, and spacious. The patrol vehicle for the everyday patrol officer.
These cars are great on a regular road, but they suck in the snow!! Since I come from the Midwest, I dread the winters!!
My favorite
I believe the Ford Crown Victoria has always been a reliable patrol vehicle. The acceleration is far better than the Chevy Impala. There is more cockpit room and is a more comfortable ride for taller officers. We have had no major problems other then the paint. There was a recall and Ford took care of this directly.
This car comes wired for emergency equipment and ready to roll. Lots of room and runs great. This is all out department uses at the present time. we are now looking at the charges because they are not making the crown vic any more will see what happens still a ford man and alway will be
Having driven the Intrepid, the Impala, the Caprice and CVPI, I would go with the CVPI over the rest. It has enough power, speed, agility and size to make it, IMHO, the best police patrol vehicle on the market today. But thats just my 2 cents.
I drive an 04 for security work, they dont hold up as well as the chevys. i drive a 1990 Chevy Caprice with the 5.7 as my personal vehicle and it has alot more pep and has held up better. Sure there is plenty of space in the Vic, but they lack the speed and durability of a chevy.
Great patrol vehicle, however they need a little more power.
GREAT CAR, I HAVE 1!
I have been in my 2005 CV for about 2 years and have put 53,500 miles on it. Its a nice unit, the handling is good and there is alot of room. I am a K-9 handler and my partner has plenty of room in his kennel. The only problem I have is the brakes. They tend to go out pretty often. I also don't like how Ford advised us that if we put the black out switch in our units, it voids the warranty.
I love it. Greew up driving British patrol cars like the Ford Escort!!! You wouldn't complain 'bout the space in a CVPI if you'd had to drive an Escort! Like it so much that drive the civi Mercury Grand Marquis as my personal vehicle.
Great tough car not enough space in it though for all the stuff that we have to carry.
Great car fast and roomy I have sat in the impalas and chargers and still prefer my crown vic
Good Car
Transmissions in this car hate me!
We have two in our fleet, and they came to use after 90,000 hard miles, and they still work great. We have had no major problems with ours.
outside of normal maint. the crown vics are reliable
Its not a Charger but it gets the job done.
Gets The Job Done!
love it i am 6,5 i need room
I like it the ultimate patrol vehicle. I love the room.
Not a Ford fan, but love this car. Been involved in 3 high speed pursuits and the satbilty and smoothness of this vehicle stands alone. The room inside is large enough for me, standing at 6'5" and 220 lbs. I have had the Chevy Impala and there is no comparison, Crown Vic all the way!!!
All the way crown vic.. alot of room for your gear
