Just wondered if anyone plays in a band or writes their own music, in addition to singing? I love to sing, but I probably think Im better than I am....I play the piano and saxophone and played the clarinet as a kid. I create my own music on the piano and play by ear to almost anything. Share your story, even if you only sing in the shower....

I played drum set for a couple years, but the wife made me get rid of it. Now that shes gone I hope to get another one soon. I would like to pick up the guitar and relearn the piano sometime.

In high school I was the only freshman in the senior acapella choir. I continued in choir all through my senior year and then didn't do a thing until about 7-8 years ago I was in a musical at the college where I used to work. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed every minute of it!! I still love to sing whether it's on a stage, in my shower or in my car!!! I'm one of those nuts who's jammin' at the red light with me and the radio way up loud!!

I played in bands up until '06 (none of them very good)... all originals with a few covers thrown in for good measure. I played guitar in three of the bands and drums in two others - I sang in all 5 bands (sometimes lead vocals, sometimes backup). I played bass (guitar, not fish) in a buddy's band for a little bit when he broke his ankle and couldn't play. Now I just strum the guitar at home for a couple of hours every 3-4 months. If I can swing it, I'd like to get an electronic drum set so I can play in the privacy of my own home and without disturbing anyone.

Well, let's see! My mom is a Music Teacher at one of the Local School's here, and my Uncle is a DJ for a Country station here in town, and he is also in a band. I played the flute and piano during my youthful years, I still play the piano a little but, mostly during family events. I sing Karoke that's about it.

I started playing guitar seriously in 2004.  After going through many different guitars, I have settled on a PRS McCarty that sounds like a Les Paul for the most part, and a PRS Custom 22 detuned for that wonderful music called Grunge!

I have always been afraid to sing until recently.  I had extensive sinus surgery that completely changed my voice.  It freaked me out completely, but left me with a tenor voice.  I was trying to talk like I did before the surgery but I ended up just making do with what it is now.  I started singing to maintain a confidence level to at least talk to strangers.  I still see a weird look on people's faces when I talk now that knew me before the surgery.

Know anybody looking for someone that can sing like Michael Stipe or Eddie Vedder, send them my way.

I have sang in public (church) since I was about 6 or 7 years old.  I have sang in choirs, quartets, duets, and solos.  I also play the keyboards, trumpet, flugel horn, a little guitar, and some light percussion.  I also have played in some bands up thru about 2003.  Have sold most of my gear except a couple of horns.  Hopefully one day I can replace my guitars and keyboards.  I would love to be in another band again someday...SOON!!!!!!!!

My latest CD, "Ode To A Troll" was produced by Sony in late 2007. Sales are good. Not platinum but good. All proceeds go the pauper's cemetary where ne'er-do-wells find their final resting place.

I sing, I am a story teller, I am your troubadour. On my album, I also play a washboard. It annoys the garden variety troll.

Track #4 is my favorite. I know you know the melody. It goes to the tune of 'Nick, nack paddy wack, give your dog a bone..."

"I hate trolls, ... yes, I do,

Squish and squash and splatter, too.

With a nick-nack-paddy-wack, give your dog a bone,

We troll hunters head on home."

(Now, see, I know you tried it....)

I will be in the kiosk until 11pm to sign CD's.

Does Rock Band count?   If so, then I do it all!!  Whole family enjoys this, and it is just about the only time you will see a smile on my 15 year old sons face.  When he is rolling on the floor laughing at his mama!!

Brass musician. Primarily tuba..... like ensembles, quintets, etc. Ufortunately this area isnt exactly a hotbed of brass musicians/groups.

Either/or..... same horn, different shape. Got an old, upright, King 3 banger at home though..... It's probably older than me and it looks like it fell off a truck but it makes plenty of racket.

I play the piano, guitar, and drums. I'm rusty on all of them, lol. I also can sing both tenor and bass, believe it or not, and I'm told I'm not too shabby (by those who caught me, unfortunately). My dad is a singer and most of my 11 sibling play instruments, so I guess it runs in the family a little. I also write. I've only written a few songs though, primarily ballads.

I attempt to play a little guitar and can ping a little on piano, but main instrument is singing.  I would love to be able to play piano, guitar, and other stringed instruments good, but can't do it.  Maybe one day I'll learn.

Used to play the piano  when I was a kid and currently play the guitar every now and then.  Very rusty with reading music anymore so play mostly by ear.

I played the flute, sax, all woodwinds in high school. I only play the flute and the wooden flute now. I sing, but not in front of anyone, not that good. My daughter is about the only one who has heard me sing. She said I was good, I need to get her hearing checked. Ha Ha  My daughter sings in school, her school was picked last year to sing in Orlando, Fl (Disney).

As far as singing, I love to sing but not in front of anyone, and the music has to be loud enough to drown out my voice.....LOL

I've played guitar off and on for about 20 years, just got back into it again and right now am hot rodding a Les Paul I just bought.  Had a nice jam session with some friends over the weekend, it's a lot of fun to play and sing (turn the amp up, yeh), very much a stress reliever.  I play just about everything from Skynyrd to Metallica to Toby Keith to blues!  Love it.  Have written many of my own songs, just need to put them all together!  I found out about seven years ago that I love to sing and now I do it every chance I get, whether it be karaoke or singing with my guitar.

I play the guitar. Mostly harder stuff like Metallica and I try and write my own stuff. Try the operative word.

=D Thought I'd share this. When I was in grade school, I joined the choir then high school, I played the violin and piano for orchestra. Now, I just don't have time but I find it weird (maybe it's just me) whenever I listen to a song play on the radio or wherever, not only do I pay attention to the lyrics but I can hear and tell what instrument is used in the harmony and melody of the song.
