Shady emails

Posted about 1 month ago I always get these emails. Some of them come through into my mail box and some of them go to my spam folder. Mostly they are some sort of deal where, if I'll just give them my information (never) they'll say I'm so-and-so's next of kin and we can claim their millions in inheritance or something of that nature. Some of them are somebody on their death bed wanting me to take their millions and donate it to their charities. There's also tons of loteries that I've never entered telling me that I've won and here's how you claim your winnings. I never reply to them and I've learned to block them but I think they're shady at best. Is there something I can do? Is there somewhere I can send them to be checked or bunked if they're bad? I know there's scammers out there and I feel like most of these are scams to get my money or my identity so I'd like to do something but I don't know what. I have 500 slots I can fill with blocked addresses and I'm already a third full - what do I do when it's full? Live by the Golden Rule |

| Posted about 1 month ago If you have software like Symantec Anti-Virus that contains an Anti-Spam component, ensure that it is set to inspect your email for spam and other suspect emails. Check this link for more information about Spam: http://www.symantec.com/norton/security_response/secureemail.jsp The best thing to do is simply delete it. Most of these types of emails is already known so don't break your neck trying to find someone to report it to. Make sure that your anti-virus software is updated often and run complete system scans on a regular basis! Blocking them won't do you much good since the programs that create these emails change often, you would be better off marking them as "spam" if your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has that option. A lot depends upon what software that you have and the options offered by your Internet Service Provider. | Posted about 1 month ago If the email claims to be from a US GOV Agency then you can report it, otherwise just delete it. Here is website that you can report scam emails to: http://www.ic3.gov/ I get them all the time. I have won the UK Lottery, Yahoo Lottery, have several unclaimed million dollar winnings, and need to claim several bank accounts in small African Countries. All I need to do is give them my bank account number,,,,,YEAH RIGHT! |

| Posted about 1 month ago Many if not all of the scam emails involving banks and money transfers come from Nigeria. NBC Datetline did a good story on it a few months ago. Take a look at this article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8171053/
