Does any one else have a favorite verse or verses they like to read before or during their shift?  One of my favorites is Isaiah 41:10 


'Fear not, for I am with you;


Be not dismayed, for I  am your God.


I will strengthen you,


Yes, I will help you,


I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.'

That's an awesome scripture. Thank you for sharing that. My favorite is the 23rd Psalm.

Psalm 91 has always been called "The Soldier's Psalm." I have read it or used it as a text for deceased police officers or military personnel before.


When my three friends were mudered 4 years ago, two verses became very dear to me as God used them to minister to me: Ps. 46:1 and Rom. 8:28.


2 Cor. 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new."

Psalm 91 is another I like to read before going in service.  I didn't know it was considered the "Soldier's Psalm."  That's pretty cool.  It always gives me comfort and courage reading it.  Thanks, guys!

I can hardly believe my fellow Christian Cops have not responded to this thread more!  Come on, saints of Christ!  What Biblical verses get you through the day or shift?  I want to learn from you guys so I can seek other scripture.

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.

For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.

This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing.

Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Isaiah 40:31   Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

Best verse ever people in fearful situations......"Do not fear those who can only kill the body but rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in the flames of hell."  Matt 10:28 and of course "Though I walk through the fire I shall not be burned nor shall the flames kindle upon thy clothing."  Isa 43:2

Here is a brief explanation of why it's called the Soldier's Psalm.


In World War I the brigade commander of the 91st Infantry gave all those under his charge a card with the psalm printed on it; they recited the psalm every day. The 91st Infantry faced some of the bloodiest battles of World War I. While in combat they did not once lose a single casualty.


God is good ain't He?

I frequently refer to this one when people tell me they are christian or ask me if I am trying to get out of a ticket, or read me bible verses on traffic stops.
