Posted 3 months ago .....what pistol would you buy?
Please select caliber, make, and size. 9mm .40 .45
HK Glock Springfield XD Sig S&W M&P
4" 5"
If your favorite make is not there then select caliber and size and write in your favorite make. The reason I am doing this is because I will soon be getting a LEO job where the department doesn't issue weapons. Thanks for your input. |

| Posted 3 months ago Glock .40~ On a side note the Model 35 is a competition handgun, which is what we carry- So I do well at the range, even with my WEAK HAND. Springfield 1911 TRP Loaded Operator
My Springfield XD .45 Tactical comes in a close second...this picture is not my TRP, I changed out the burner grips for a set of Hogue wrap-around ones...I also don't have a TLR-2, but I do have a Streamlight M6 for it...
*edit* Mind you I already own one and these are more than 1K...I'd go with an XD and spend the rest on a good Blade-Tech holster... ¡GØÐ HņH ÑØ ƒÜR¥ †HÂÑ À Pϧ§ËР؃ƒ PÁRņRØØPËR! Ríø†!™ |

| Posted 3 months ago Wow! A grand to buy a gun....hmmmm.... From 1911's, I'd chose one of the following: Para Ordinance; Kimber or Colt .45's Polymer guns: Glock; Springfield XD; H&K (.40; .357sig; or .45gap). |

The 45 XDs hold 13+1 Springfield also has a GI-1911 that holds 13+1 ( http://www.springfield-armory.com/armory.php?version=11 ) MSRP= $676 ( http://www.galleryofguns.com/genie/default.aspx?item=PW9701LP )
Honestly, if Sig made a Hi-Cap .357 Sig I'd be all over it...but I'm sold on my Springfields, I just wish they did a better job on the finish for my XD...hopefully the XDMs will be better!

I'll go with the G19 also, but with Fed 147 gr. HST, 124 gr. +P Gold Dots or 124, 127 and 147 gr. Ranger-T. However, I'm not going to expect any handgun to stop anyone instantly. |

| Posted 3 months ago No magic wands out there. Find what feels best in your hand. Which trigger system you are happiest about using, which safety system works best for your grip, what holster systems are available to carry it, and then burn up a couple cases of ammo confirming your choice. What works great/best/or not at all for me, might have nothing to do with your response. Whatever sidearm/ammo combination you get, its only advantage is its right there when you need it, the shotgun or rifle is what you should be reaching for when you have the luxury. I gave up caring what officers had in their holsters a long time ago. Now I just care that they can hit with it, and get it out of the holster without requiring a calendar to time them, or having some P.O.S. holster that loses the gun when they run/jump/wrestle, etc. Rails for a light are okay, night sights are neat, lasers can be a nice option, but none of that matters a damn if you are slow and awkward with something you bought that doesn't suit you just because someone else thought it was "the best." Good luck, train hard, fight smart. |

Ain't that the truth!! Handguns are notoriously unreliable as INSTANT fight stoppers. If you want that, grab a 12 gauge & get to work! |

| Posted 3 months ago Glock model 22 or 23 in 40 Caliber, whichever fits your hand better. I have found the best ammunition for Personal Defense / Duty application is Speer Gold Dot and Corbon DPX. Use the money left over to put gas in your car WHO'S IN CHARGE OF THIS MESS??? |

As far as Glocks go, I'd use my Glock 35 for a primary & maybe a 23 or 27 (or both) as back-up guns. |

Exellent gun for the range but I have a lot of stopages on mine when ever it gets dirty, or I am not standing still with perfect form, firing slowly. Be careful just becuase it kicks ass on the range does not mean it will make a good COMBAT gun. With that said .....Man them Kimbers is pretty I love shooting mine for recreation. I reject your reality and submit my own. |
