| Posted 3 months ago I like BOTH Glocks & XD's. Both are great gun designs. |

| Posted 3 months ago The Glock and the XD are very similiar. There frame work is about the same and they both have remarkable craftsmanship. The XD stands up to the ssame tests as the glock withou question in my eyes. "Amateurs talk hardware. Professionals talk software. It doesn't matter what's in your hand or between your legs. It matters what's in your heart and in your head." - Lt. Col. Dave Grossman |

| Posted 3 months ago I am responsible for buying Glocks for our agency and it has been brought to my attention that at least 3 of our guns have malfunctioned. The problem is the slide lock spring is failing and locking the slide back after every shot. Has anybody else experienced similiar problems? So far I have given replacement guns to those agents and sent the bad guns or worn out guns back to Glock to be repaired. Don't Blame Me, I Voted for Palin !!!!

The slide stop or the slide lock? The slide lock, locks the slide to the frame and the slide stop, stops (locks) the slide to the rear. You have the rest of your life to solve the problem, how long your life lasts depends on how well you do it - Clint Smith |

| Posted 3 months ago HOLD UP A DAMN MINUTE!! before some start with all the damn hate mail, my question to tony was a serious question about a Glock handgun. it was in no way doubting his accident or his word as to what happened! it was not calling him a liar or anything of the sort! stop with the friggin hatemail and read the damn post i made! tony thats not directed toward you. we are talking in pm also, but some others are joining in with their not needed 2 cents. | Posted 3 months ago some just jump the gun i guess when i say somethings. wow! dont know why - haha! back on topic. i fully trust the Glock. mine hasnt failed me yet. every time i pull the trigger it goes bang! i have had the same one since i have started and hope i dont ever have to exchange it. about the only problems i have seen with them is the magazine's dont always catch but i believe thats more the magazine and the wear on it rather than the gun. I agree.. I have both. I carry my XD compact as back-up and off duty... I like them both but i don't think any gun is indestructable. Most people respect the Badge... Everyone respects the gun... |

| Posted 3 months ago NYPD has probably the worst Shots fired to hit ratio of any Dept I know of because of their Dept mandadted 8lb trigger pull. Yes the Glock is a fine weapon as long as you have the 3lb. trigger. I have carried many glocks but my offf- duty gun was a colt 45 and I have mainly carried a 45 since the mid 60's when I became a cop. Still carrying one at 63 yrs,. young. |

It is the slide stop that we are having trouble with. And it appears that it is coming from the guns of our firearms instructors that put a bunch of rounds through their weapons. Have you seen similiar problems? Don't Blame Me, I Voted for Palin !!!!

I have a Glock 35 with a 3.5 lb trigger (connector) and I shoot very well with this. When I worked for NDOC, we issued Glock 22's (with the stock 5.5 lb connector) as needed for transportation, hospital & court duty. The G22 is also a good weapon as is for the AVERAGE LEO or CO. I don't agree with equiping every issued Glock with a 3.5 lb trigger to EVERY Officer out on patrol or other duty. The 3.5 lb connector is NOT RECOMMENDED for duty by Glock either as it is too light for the average Officer. |

No, I know that due to my high thumb hold I used to have a tendancy to hold the slide stop down and prevent it from locking on an empty magazine. My first suspision would be the shooters were applying upward pressure to the slide stop during recoil causing it lock open as slide traveled back. In any case something is causing it go up. I haven't tried it but if the spring on the slide stop was over a pin rather than under it, I guess it could cause constant upward pressure to the slide stop. What generation of magazine is it? You can find this out by looing at the number on the top of the follower...if it has no number then it is a first generation magazine. Most magazines are in their 3rd Generation...and usually the followers are a little different. This number is (2) for second generation and looks like it's for a 10mm. If your's does not have a number or is a (2) I would suggest replacing the magazines altogether. Tony, Sorry to hear about your loss, what a waist of air! (refering of course to the guy you were chassing).

| Posted 3 months ago Someone may have better details than me on this, but the way I understand it is that the first Glock known to have been involved in a murder was found on a rooftop after 1-4 years I can't recall. They said the only thing wrong with it was that the owner had installed laser sight with an aftermarket pin holding it in.That pin was rusted. That was the only thing wrong. They picked it up and apparently they did a test fire somewhere and it fired. Pain is weakness leaving the body. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. |

| Posted 3 months ago I often see posts and websites extolling the invulnerability of Glocks, and without exception there is always a post or two about failures and problems with them as well. In the end, I have yet to hear of a "perfect gun", which is incapable of misfire, jamming, or mechanical failure, or completely impervious to physical damage under any condition. Such a weapon simply does not exist. However, Glock does seem to be remarkably reliable overall. Although the occasional mechanical defect does apparently sneak in during manufacturing, the overwhelming majority have a high opinion of their weapons. Myself included. As for the ancedote about the Glock on a rooftop for 1-4 years shooting, I would not be surprised. I have heard of and seen numerous demonstrations of Glocks being submerged in mud, sand, and water, frozen into a block of ice, run over by a tank etc... and still firing immediately afterwards. Most of the issues I have heard of (like the one mentioned by ABC10) seem to be more the result of manufacturing mistakes and the occasional defective part then a flaw in design. As long as it goes bang when you 100% need it to, I call it a reliable gun. If it has a history of not doing so... bring something else. |

| Posted 3 months ago I have yet for find a easier or more idiot proof gun that the glock. 1st had one in the acadamy, a glock 19. when i got hired by my agancy I was issued the Glock 22 and have had the same one for 5 years and had not had any malfuntions with it. It is a great gun and I would diffinatly recomend it to others. Romans 13:4 "For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil

| Posted 3 months ago I agree that Glocks are good, reliable weapons. It comes down to personal preference for me. I like the way the XD 40 feels in my hand over the Glock 22. The XD is more comfortable for me so my preference goes there. Both are great though. |

I was under the impression that NYPD had the NYPD trigger which is around 12lbs. I have the 8 pound trigger on my 1st generation Glock and shoot expert every time. I didn't want the light 5 pounder. |
